“Choose life and live” is a word God gave me in 1994 when I was so sick and weak that I could hardly function. I had six different illnesses come upon me within a six month period. The doctors could not even determine the cause of some of them. I became so weak that I had to crawl up the stairs of our home. I was sleeping 12 hours a night and taking 2-3 hour naps each day. While talking to the Lord about it, The Lord impressed upon me that as long as I was alive, I was to live.

In other words, Don’t focus on my weak frail body, that’s not me, that’s my outer man. My true self is my inner man in union with Christ. Thus Christ is my life (Colossians 3:4)! And since Christ is my life then He is my health in my sickness, and my strength in my weakness. Suddenly, “I can do all things through Christ” took on a whole new meaning! It is never about how much time you have left, but about what you do with the time you do have left.

Thank you Lord for your grace, which is always sufficient—much more than enough! Praise God, by the end of the sixth month the Good Lord had healed me of three of my illnesses, cured two by natural means and the last one with a simple medication (after He showed me what it was and what to do about it). Hallelujah! There is much more to the story, but the point is, “choose life, and live!”
