TGIM – Thank God It’s Monday!

THE WORD IS: Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21

THE POINT IS: Are you concerned about doing God’s will?  Well you should be, because God certainly is!  He made ample provision for you to be able to do His will. That’s what grace is all about.  God is a God of grace from start to finish.  Grace is God doing for you what you cannot do for yourself. Just look at what He’s done for you.  He offered the perfect sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ, who shed His blood when He died upon the Cross, in order to establish an everlasting covenant with you.  Such a covenant provides you with everlasting life! But in order for that covenant to be binding, it required the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.  So it all gets back to the cross and the resurrection. The phrase “through the blood” is a reference to the cross of Christ.  And the phrase “brought again from the dead” is a reference to the burial and resurrection of Christ.  As a result of this amazing sacrifice, the God of peace has made it possible for us to have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.  What a gracious offer!

THE APPLICATION IS: But it gets even better!  Upon receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, He becomes your Shepherd—your caretaker.  He will lead you, guide you, protect you and provide for you.  Furthermore, He does it all from right there inside of you.  As the resident Overseer of your life, Jesus Christ will do an inside job on you, which brings us back to grace.  Grace is also God doing in and through you, what you cannot do in and of yourself. Therefore, when you allow Christ to live His life in and through you, He becomes your means of accomplishing God’s will.  He will make you perfect in what you do, by working in you His good and perfect works.  Since Jesus Christ does all things well, as He works in you, He will always do those things which are pleasing in God’s sight.  That means your life will become pleasing to God, and you’ll also be bringing glory to God—the glory that’s due Him for ever, and ever, and ever.  So be it Lord!

Have a great week,
