April Fools\u2019 Day is a curious tradition with uncertain origins. The most curious thing to me is that we even mention it, much less include it on our calendars. Regardless, there is a lesson for us in this.<\/div>\n

What is a fool? There are various definitions, but what does the Bible say? \u201cThe fool has said in his heart, \u2018There is no God.\u2019\u201d Psalm 14:1 So, according to God, a fool is someone who denies the existence of God. Jesus expanded on this when He said, \u201cO fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken\u201d (Luke 24:25). A \u201cfool\u201d does not believe what the Lord has said. So we see that a \u201cfool\u201d is someone who is not trusting the Lord.<\/span><\/div>\n

Maybe you are thinking, \u201cWell that does not apply to me. I believe in God. I am a Christian. So, I could not possibly be a fool.\u201d Or are you? Perhaps you have been fooled. Could it be that every day is \u201cApril Fools\u2019 Day\u201d for you and you don\u2019t even realize it?<\/span><\/div>\n

Consider these words from the Apostle Paul regarding the Galatian Christians. \u201cFoolish Galatians, who has cunningly deceived you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly set forth as crucified?\u201d Galatians 3:1 God the Son\u2014Jesus Christ the Lord\u2014was clearly presented to the Galatians as the one who had been crucified for their sins. Although the Galatians had entrusted their lives to Christ, they were no longer trusting Christ with their lives. They had reverted back to living their lives based on their own efforts, in the energy of their own flesh.<\/span><\/div>\n

Today many Christians are being deceived just like the Galatians. They are foolishly living their lives as if God does not even exist. They may talk about Him and sing about Him on Sundays, but rarely think about Him or consult Him the rest of the week. In other words, they are not trusting Christ with the everyday details of their life, which is just plain foolish.<\/span><\/div>\n
.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

To the extent that you are not actively trusting the Lord Jesus Christ with the details of your life, you are living like a fool. You are disregarding the very existence of God in your everyday life.<\/span><\/div>\n
.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Please don\u2019t be foolish like the Galatian Christians. Take a moment to consciously entrust every area of your life to the Lord. Purpose to trust Him with every detail, of every day of your life. Look to Jesus who began the good work in you to complete it. He will do it! And that will make you a very wise person! \u00a0Dr. Lewis Gregory 4\/1\/20<\/span><\/div>\n
