SIMPLY AMAZING! This is a beautiful flower. And yet it is in the most unlikely place for effective growth. I discovered this flower growing out of a crack on the side of a building while I was on a mission trip in Brazil. There is probably very little soil available and very little chance of any water, except the moisture in the air. Yet, it is amazing how this flower is able to flourish with very little nourishment, and no one to care for it.
Many years ago I found myself in a difficult place in the ministry. I did not like what I was doing. I felt frustrated where I was at. So, I asked the Lord for direction. Later I went to a friend’s house. While I was there I saw a plaque on the wall. It had these words, “Bloom where you are planted.”
Then the Lord reminded me of my situation. He showed me that everything would be OK. He had me where He wanted me. He prompted me to be content where I was and assured me that He would take care of the rest. He brought to mind Hebrews 13:5, “Be content with such things as you have: for He has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” When you are where God wants you to be, doing what He wants you to do, He will enable you not only to survive, but thrive.
In reflecting on this beautiful flower in such an undesirable place, it is evident that where there is life, there will be growth! So my advice to you is, “Bloom where you’re planted!”
