In the book of Judges, chapters 6-8, we learn from Gideon’s life what to do, as well as what not to do, in glorifying God. We see the man Gideon, after much encouragement by the Lord, finally stepping out and following the Lord’s leading. But even as Gideon took one step forward, he took at least 2 steps backward. Gideon went from the lowest and the least to the greatest and then the worst. When his country needed him most, he abdicated his responsibilities and ultimately led the people away from the very God who had saved them. Now, where is the glory in that?
