Q & A
Q. I have made a terrible mistake. Not only is it a problem for myself, but also I have hurt those I love. Please help me.
A. You are in a difficult situation. Sadly, your problem is all to common. Clearly you were wrong, and what you did was hurtful to others. But you were in bondage, and deceived by the “father of lies.” Does that make it OK? Of course not, but it does mean you are human, and in need of God’s mercy and grace. God’s grace produces forgiveness, it brings restoration, healing, and reconciliation. God’s grace heals the broken heart, binds up the wounded spirit and restores the soul. God’s grace causes the unconditional love and acceptance of God to abound.
And God’s love conquerors all! “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
God’s grace is more than enough for every human need. So it is surely enough for you. “And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather boast in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12: 9-10)
Your flesh is and forever shall remain weak. But no problem, the Lord is the strength of your life! And you are strong in the Lord. Once you see that you are weak (in the flesh) then you will realize that you are truly strong (in the Lord). “When I am weak, then I am strong” should now be your motto. Because that’s the truth about you in union with Christ.
Therefore, you need to remain where you are and trust the Lord Jesus Christ with this problem. You should pray and trust the Lord to enable you to rely upon God’s all sufficient grace to enable you to endure this hardness. He will get you through just like He did every other person in the Bible who entrusted themselves to His amazing grace! God’s grace is not a theory or a concept, it is a reality that shines brightest amidst our human needs and limitations.
There is light at the end of the tunnel! You just may not be able to see it yet. But if you continue to follow Christ, walking by faith and not by sight, your faith will eventually become sight. God’s way is always the way of grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8). Without grace we could never exercise faith. But because of God’s grace we can and must exercise faith in order for God’s grace to be effectual in us. And when you exercise faith in Christ to do the work through you, then you will see it; God’s grace will be shinning brightly through Christ in you to supply all your needs. And God’s grace will get you through. Praise God for His all sufficient grace through Christ who is your life!
