THE WORD: “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
THE POINT: Humans have needs; it goes with the territory. Let’s face it; we are all needy people. Some of us may not realize it, and others may not want to admit it, but everyone has needs. God, on the other hand, has no needs. He is the source and supply of our every need.
God, in His abundant grace, is a most generous benefactor. Therefore, He is committed to meeting all of our needs. Furthermore, as a loving Heavenly Father, He delights in giving good gifts to His children. Jesus Christ has made all of this possible for us through the great exchange. He exchanged His life for ours, in order that we might exchange our life for His.
As a result, Christ has become our life. He is the means by which we have access to God’s Heavenly storehouse. He has chosen to bless us in order that we might be a blessing, both to God and to others. Through it all, He alone is glorified!
THE APPLICATION: So, what do you need? If you are “in Christ”, there is nothing that you need! How is this possible? Upon receiving Christ, all of your needs are met in Him. Christ is now your source. Since Christ is in you and you are “in Christ” you have no needs, only supply.
To be sure, you still have needs on the human plane. However, because Christ lives in you, you are no longer in the fleshly realm of your humanity; you are now in the Spirit. Although you still remain in this world, you are no longer of it.
You are of God now. He is your source. Since the Lord is your shepherd (your caretaker and provider), according to the Psalmist David, you want for nothing (Psalm 23:1). You are complete in Him! You have no needs. Therefore, any needs that occur in the natural realm are simply indicative of God’s supply in the supernatural realm. God will provide! For the Christian, need always constitutes supply!
So, whenever you have a need, you can be assured of God’s abundant supply. Since we walk by faith, not by sight, we see through the need to the Supply. We see Him who is invisible—Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Jesus assured us in Matthew 7:11 that our Heavenly Father would give good gifts to them that ask Him.
Therefore, you must simply draw from the well that never runs dry. All you have to do is ask Him. Let your request be made known unto God with thanksgiving. Saying “thank you” to God is a declaration of faith that you have the petition you desire of Him. “Thank you Lord, that I have . . . .” When, where, and how is up to Him. The important thing is that you have whatever you need in Him! Christ is your all-sufficient Source! Hallelujah!!!
THE PRAYER: “Heavenly Father, I admit that I am a needy person physically and spiritually. But, as the creator of all things, You are well qualified to be both the source and supply of all my needs. Once I receive Christ, You promise to supply all my needs through Christ. Therefore, I trust You to take care of me. Thank You, Lord, for meeting all my needs!”
THE CAUTION: This message is not some get rich quick scheme. It’s about a loving Heavenly Father taking care of His children! And as a child of God, He most certainly cares for you. Therefore, your Father God looks forward to lavishing His Heavenly riches upon you (Luke 15:20-23). So, embrace Him as your Lord, your life and your all. He will take care of the details!
